If you are coming to study English in London, then you have already made a very good decision. You will be learning English in an amazing city for developing your language skills, with many opportunities to have fun.

So if you are coming to London to study, or even if you’re already here, here are some of the best fun things to enjoy as a student in London!

Ride the Eye

Opened in the year 2000 to celebrate the millennium, the London Eye is still much loved nearly 20 years later. It provides a unique way to see London as it calmly spins at 0.6mph. It’s not cheap, but the London Eye is an iconic London tourist site, and a fantastic thing to experience.

See the Routmaster

The Routemaster – London’s iconic, red double-decker bus – may not be in use anymore, but you can still see it. The London Transport Museum in Covent Garden is home to a number of the old buses. You can even sit in the driver’s seat and imagine driving one of these famous buses around the streets of London. Alternatively, go for a ride on the New Routemaster – the modern version of the classic double-decker bus design.

Go Deer Spotting

It may seem strange to think it, especially when you are in the heart of London in the middle of its traffic and millions of people, but London really does have a wild side! And the best place to see it is in Richmond Park.

Full of ancient woods and wonderful views, this large Royal Park in the borough of Richmond is also home to a herd of wild deer. Go to Richmond Park, where you can see these majestic animals and take some fantastic photos.

Visit the People’s Palace

Sat on a hill overlooking London, Alexandra Palace is in the north of the city and is known as ‘the People’s Palace’ or ‘Ally Pally.’ As well as its fantastic view across London, Alexandra Palace is famous for its ice skating rink and lovely surrounding parkland.

Crouch End, the area at the bottom of the hill, is one of the nicest suburbs in London, and you’ll find a range of friendly pubs and lovely restaurants there, too.

Shakespeare

As the writer of world-famous plays such as Romeo & Juliet and Macbeth, William Shakespeare is one of the most celebrated Englishmen in history. In London, you can visit Shakespeare’s Globe, a modern reconstruction of the original Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare’s plays were first performed.

Situated on the banks of the River Thames, Shakespeare’s Globe is a beautiful building. The performances are fantastic, the tickets are very cheap, the theatre is amazing, and the experience is a must for all visitors to London.

Hopefully there will be something you like on this list, but remember that London is one of the most popular cities on Earth for a reason. This list is not even 1% of all the fun things you can enjoy here – so get out and start exploring this amazing city!
