Course description

This is a goal-oriented and highly intensive programme for those who wish to gain an internationally recognised English language qualification. Our exam preparation courses are taught by highly experienced teachers who will help you gain the skills you need to pass the exam.

Our focus for this course is on:

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

Please note, our English Exam courses are designed for people taking paper-based tests. If you wish to take the computer-based test you are still able to join the course and the difference between the two tests will be discussed.

Objectives

  • Improve all 4 language skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking
  • Each Week has a different Exam Paper Focus. Classes will cover all skills but more time will be dedicated to the Focus Skill. A 4 week course will offer students the best all round preparation for the exam
  • Gain a better understanding of each part of the exam
  • Develop examination skills and techniques needed to succeed in the exam
  • Develop skills for independent further study

Methodology

  • The course blends general language study with specific examination work
  • Students learn through the use of past papers and continuous practice of specific tasks
  • Classes ensure a balance of skills work to develop your listening, reading, writing and speaking strategies needed to succeed in the exam
  • A thorough grammar syllabus focuses on the specific items required for the exam
  • We track individual student’s progress with Friday’s short test based on the work covered during the week’s classes, as well as mock exams at the beginning and at the end of the course
